The IAC performs confidential product and technology research for the antimicrobial and odor control industry. Work runs under strict nondisclosure, and the cost generally qualifies for the US R&D tax credit.
What we take on
Four kinds of work, all of it run in house by the council's technical staff.
Competitive research and analysis
We answer, what else is in the market, what market share do they have, how well do their products actually perform, what are the meaningful differences in the technologies?
Product research with development assistance
We work alongside your team, from early formulation through performance evaluations and marketing entry.
New technology evaluation
We provide marketability and performance assessments for new technologies and/or existing technologies with new uses. Evaluated products are eligible for IAC Certification.
Actives based test method development
When current test methods fail to accurately measure your product’s actual performance the IAC can develop a method that will.

Our work in these areas is kept confidential under strict nondisclosure agreements and the cost of this work generally qualifies as R&D tax credits for US income tax. As a 501(c)(3) organization the IAC's mission is to improve the safety, effectiveness and proper use of antimicrobial and non-biocidal odor control products. The research that we perform for our members fits our mission as a non-profit while providing a more cost-effective platform to perform this work. Confidential by default
Every project is performed under a strict nondisclosure agreement that protects your confidentiality covering everything that we do. Your formulations, results and data remain yours.
Generally tax credit eligible
The cost of qualified research performed on your behalf can qualify for the US R&D tax credit. Confirm your eligibility with your tax advisor.
Nonprofit cost structure
As a 501(c)(3), the IAC performs this work as part of its mission rather than for a margin. That usually means a lower cost than at commercial research firms.
How a project starts

Send an outline
One e-mail that shapes the problem. Nothing confidential until we sign a mutual nondisclosure (NDA) agreement.

Scoping conversation
With an NDA in place we discuss the project. We determine what it will take and whether the IAC is the right fit for the project.

Proposal and agreement
If the fit is right then we identify the deliverables, establishing timelines and costs in writing before any work begins.
